Current Show Dalmatian:   Mandoline

          CH Dakota Snowood Secret Wish

Ponderosa Sky Dalmatians can also not say enough thanks to Kristine Benoit, Meg Hennessey & Deborah Smith for breeding and allowing Linda Daly at Ponderosa Sky Dalmatians to co-own with Kristine Benoit our beautiful liver-factored “Mandoline.”   She is formally known as CH Dakota Snowood Secret Wish, DOB 11/01/2021, sired by 2018 #1   Dalmatian and All Breed, MBISS MBIS GCH Dakota Into the Woods ROMX (GCHS Multi BISS Enchanted Hart Down N Dirty ROMX [L] x GCH Dakota’s The Closer).   Mandoline’s dam is CH Snowood Dakota When You Wish Upon a Star ROMX [L] (Ch Highland’s Flying High Again X CH Dakota’s Breaking Dawn at Snowood ROMX).   Mandoline won WB at the 2021 National under Judge James Ham when shown by Danielle Frykman, later rescinded due to an obscure entry error technicality, but she was recognized at the National with this award!!!   In addition, Mandoline was given a 2nd place class award at the 2021 St. Louis Specialty affliated with the Dalmatian  National by Judge  Ch.

Mandoline finished her Championship before the year on 12/17/2021 at 13 months of age at the Royal Canine Mid-Florida Dalmatian Specialty in Orlando, where she was handled by Danielle Frykman.  Judge Charles Olives recognized Mandoline with  a 4 point WB and an Award of Merit!

Mandoline was also awarded Sweepstakes for Best Junior at the, Iowa Greater Twin Cities specialty by Judge Cheryl Fales Steinmetz on 09//03/2021 and received a Reserve WB, while handled by Danielle Frykman!

At the Greater Denver Dalmatian Club supported entry on 08/21/2021, Mandoline was awarded by Judge    , a 5 point WB, while handled by Danielle Frykman.   In Oberlin, Ohio at the Western Reserve Dalmatian Club supported entry, Mandoline was awarded a 4 point WB by Judge Linda H. Lewin on 08/14/2021, while shown by Danielle Frykman.  Mandoline was awarded a 1 point WB at the Plum Creek KC  and a 1 point WB at the Colorado Springs KC on 07/02/21, while handled by       .

Mandoline received Reserve WB at the Greater Denver Dalmatian specialty in Estes Park under Judge on, while shown by  .   In Detroit MI Mandoline was also awarded Reserve WB by Judge   ,at the Dalmatian Club of Greater Detroit supported entry on 12/04/2021, while shown by Danielle Frykman.  Additionally when owner-handled, Mandoline had first place class awards at both of the Heartland Dalmatian Club of Greater Kansas City Specialties in Lawrence, Kansas on 10/15/2021 under Judges Molly Martin and Patrick Jones, as well as both of the  supported entries the following two days.  Mandoline was awarded another first place class award at the Dalmatian Club of Northern California supported event in Dixon, CA on 10/30/2021 by Judge Dana Cline.

Both the sire and dam of Mandoline go back to the famed CH Aberdeen’s Sawyer Brown ROMX, bred by Denise Powell and Sonja Jones, and owned by John and Kristine Benoit at Dakota Dalmatians.   Two Ponderosa Sky Dalmatian’s previous pet dalmatian's Aberdeen’s Apache Tears and Aberdeen’s Francesca Blues were a 2000 son and 2002 granddaughter of CH Aberdeen’s Sawyer Brown ROMX. Our Mandoline is also a namesake of Aberdeen’s Lady Mandoline, who was Aberdeen’s Apache’s Tears dam, as well as the granddam of Aberdeen’s Francesca Blues.  We treasure this heritage, along with all the well-known Dals in the lines of all our Dalmatians, past and present, including Nicole of Arapahoe a Fryehouse pet quality dalmatian I acquired and loved in 1986 and my childhood dalmatians April and Debbie, as well as my grandparent's dalmatians, Saddie and Beau.

Monumental Dalmatians  blessed the Daly family, by allowing us to have Cash’s littermate “Lily,” Ch Always Up to Something CGCA, DCAT, CAX, RN, BN in 2015.  She was in top 20 FCAT runs in 2017 and 2018.  Lily loves to run and is a darling uni girl, so she is an anty and not a mommy.   More performance awards are in sight for this young lady.

We are also so proud of the achievements of littermate of Cash and Lily, Tana F. Rugg’s multiple group placing GCHS Monumental It’s Always Better With Chocolate RN RI TD CA DCAT THD CGC TKI ADT, #8 NOHS & # 4 BCAT 2017 and her 2018 offspring sired by 2018 #1 Dalmatian and All Breed, MBIS MBIS GCHP Dakota Into the Woods ROM.  This offspring includes multiple group placing dogs “Roisin,” GCHB Monumental’s Shenanigan RI DCAT TKA THDN ATD [L} and littermate “Cooper” GCHB Monumental’s Oh Danny Boy, a Top 20 Dal for 2020 and 2021!   Monumental's Cherry Bomb is the newest addition at the Monumental kennel, a daughter of Roisin and Prestige's Kodak Moment.

Although we lost Cash we are considering using as a sire with Mandoline, Cash's maternal uncle, GCH Monumental Taking the High Road, a beautiful, statuesque dalmatian with a strong work ethic who has achieved a CT tracking championship, as well as other awards in lure coursing, fast cats, rally and obedience.  His heritage, like Mandoline's, includes winners of the prestigious Mach award in agility.  He goes back to famed lines through Rockstar Dalmatians , as well as Ravin Dalmatians.  He is living a long and healthy life, has a very correct outline and a beautiful head and gait.  He is from a litter of all hearing 10 pups without blue eylllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Rainer Maria Rilke

Find your true potential and passion in the dark depths amid infinitesimal light sparks with persistent curiosity and positive inquiry.

Inspired by Carl Jung's writing on the unconscious, IFS notions of many parts to the Self and Carl Roger's person-centered work.

Original on Transparent.png

IFS trainer Carol Graybeal suggests loving the questions as you ask things like:

What is wrong with me?

Why does no one like me?

Will my life ever get better?

Will I ever get over this problem?

Why can't I do better?

I hope to help you explore these questions with compassion and confidence, rather than judgment to help you move forward with positive psychological inquiry.

Spiritual inquiry, in conjunction with psychological inquiry, helps connect us to our deepest Self, which is integral in self-corrective healing.   Sprirtual inquiry such as religious leaders throughout the world consider, may lead to such questions as: why are we here, what is the meaning of life, how do I understand death, how can I become more awake, what is compassion – what are your questions?

An old saying is that the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.  It is a saying containing wisdom, warmth and mutuality.  Similarly, facing the wilderness of the unknown with support, helps to hold hope with balance and strength.

Note my dogs would love to help support your with love and my horses, like my dogs, adore attention and are always eager to be a partner.   I use the natural horsemanship principles of Pat Parelli to build confidence in both the horse and human and positive dog psychology.

Individuals, Families and Couples

   Person-Centered Therapy

“It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried. It began to occur to me that unless I had a need to demonstrate my own cleverness and learning, I would do better to rely upon the client for the direction of movement in the process.” – Carl Rogers

CBT and DBT are evidence based approaches, which along with Person-Centered Therapy are foundational modern therapies for treating mood disorders and trauma focusing on bringing words and thoughts in balance with feelings to manage behavior.

TFCBT is an evidence based treatment of children who are most often sexually abused children and or in grief and employs the family closely in the healing process.

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk says that "trauma resolution pendulates between states of exploration and safety, between language and body, between remembering the past and feeling alive in the present."

Note that the practice of sandplay is grounded in Jungian psychology, Margaret Lowenfeld's World Technique and Tibetan Buddhist Wisdom.

Fellow Denver, Colorado Sandplay Practitioner Ruth Wein uses

both EMDR  and sandplay to address trauma with children.  Certified Ft. Collins, Colorado Sandplay Therapist, Shannon Yockey employs EMDR in her trauma work with teens and adults.

Karby Allington-Goldfain, yet another fellow sandplay therapist in Englewood, Colorado is also certified in EMDR and Sandplay.

These methods are cited as therapies to be considered in the treatment of trauma by Dr. Bessel A. van der Kolk.  He also notes animal-assisted therapy as an adjunct treatment for trauma.  He particularly cites the sequential-neuro development work of Dr. Lorraine Freedle, PhD. a prominent sandplay therapist in Hawaii and a neuropsychologist, whom I have studied with in an intensive workshop in Hawaii, along with Dr. Gita Morena, PhD, a professor and published author at the University of California in transpersonal psychology and sandplay.  I have had lengthy consultative supervision with for many months each, in addition to training and/or consultative supervision with a range of other prominent sandplay therapists at local, national and international events.  Note that the practice of sandplay is grounded in Jungian psychology, Margaret Lowenfeld's World Technique and Tibetan Buddhist Wisdom.  Laurel Howe is  a prominent leader both in Jungian Analytical Circles and Sandplay in Lakewood, Colorado, known for her work with children and adults, who has inspired me during my lengthy sandplay process work with her and in an earlier analyst for about a year with Denver Jungian Analyst Laurel Dodson, who integrated family systems work of Virginia Satir with Jungian psycholgy.   Prior to meeting her I was very involved for two years obtaining marriage and family therapy training and supervision with Dr. Jan Raynak, MD  and Dr. Suzanne Pope, PhD at the Colorado Institute for Marriage and Family Therapy in Boulder, CO.

The Gottman method is a famed evidence-based treatment in relationship work with couples and couples as parents.

Love & Logic is a well-known parenting intervention with practical management tips.

TLC: Tender Loving Care for our Elders
It was Edith's daughter, Meredith, who realized that there was something wrong with her mother. Meredith kept calling her mother on the phone, and was concerned when there was no answer. She left work in a panic, and drove over to her mother's house. Edith had fallen down her stairs, and gashed her head.
